The Grass Doctor

If I plant grass seeds, how long before I start seeing results?

My backyard is all dirt and I would like to plant grass, somehow. How long does it take to start growing? What's the process? What's the best type of grass seed?

  1. May be it will take around 3 or 4 days or even 7 days some time to show the reuslts.
  2. providing you have hoed up the dirt, thrown down a bit of lime and a bit of topsoil for the seeds to take root in and providing you spray water it daily and providing you press the seeds down into the soil so they dont blow away - should see them in 3-4 days. Depending where you live will depend on the grass seed thats suited to your area temperatures and soil type. Hope this helps.
  3. You should definitely see results within a week, maybe a touch more if the ground and air temp is getting cold. Within 1 month all the seed should definitely be finished germinating
  4. if you plant today it will be about 2weeks to see your first signs of grass, and do not forget to water very regular
  5. Less than a week, but you will prob. have to water 2x a day, especially if it is sunny. There is a new, coated seed out that you only have to water 1x a day or less. It costs more (no surprise there). Have not tried it yet but plan to. I have found that doing one area at a time is easier to keep watered if you do not have sprinklers.
