Too late to weed and feed?
My lawn is a mess. The weeds outnumber the grass and grow faster. I have grass seeds to put done but wonder if it is too late to use weed and feed? Is there a brand that works better in summer? Thanks!

- I think its too late...usually the summer heat will react with that weed chem and cook your grass...happened to me :( I pay around $40 per month to have lawn guys spray...lawn looks way better than when I was taking care of it, and $40 seems cheap compared to what I'd spend on chems per month.
- they have several feeds for several time of the year. the best bet is talk to your local garden shop. They will know the best fertilizer for your grass etc.
- no it is not too late.
- it's never too late to weed make sure you don't roll it to tight or you'll have incense 420 Heavy
- Not, it is not too late. You might read the information on the product to see what it says. Personally, I find it is better to wait until the weeds are 'out' before using such products, otherwise, not enough get onto them to do any good. I did a treatment early in the spring, before things really started to grow and it didn't do any good at all because they were all still dormant.
- You can weed and feed now. But if it does not rain within 48 hours you must water it well in. It will tell you this in the instructions on the packet. Beulah
- If you use weed and feed type fertilizer it will kill the seeds you're about to sow. If you've got to use the stuff you'd be better off buying some sod squares and plugging the lawn. Otherwise, mix the grass seed with sterile sand, divide into two batches, and sow/spread it in both directions (i.e. north/south, then east/west) for best coverage. Water daily for at least two weeks and do not mow until you can see the seeds sprouting.
