  3. Native grasses removed for farming took away the root system which held the soil in place. The wind, then, could blow away top soil. I don't recall anything about a drought, but it would cause the soil to dry up and blow away. Erosion can be caused by all of the answers except A. Water to wash soil away, avalanches to move or push it, glaciers to plow it (great lakes were made by them) and of course wind to blow it away.
