How can I tell what type of grass I have?
Hi I would like to know how I can tell if my grass is Buffalo or Kikuyu or some other sort!? I am told you can tell by say, if the grass has runners etc.. Does anyone know the details?! Thanks. Edward. NOTE: I live in Sydney Australia, please dont reply if you live outside this country, because I am sure the grass is not the same!!!

- Give this one a shot anyway... http://www.turffiles.ncsu.edu/turfid/ItemID.aspx?orderID=GR&orderDesc=Grass
- All grasses are classified by the hair pattern on the sheath or collar (where the blades attach at the base) and if available the seed spike helps to confirm. If you get a book on grass taxonomy at the library look for one that has pictures or diagrams of the sheath and cuticle hair patterns. When you find the one that matches your grass you will know what you have.
