The Grass Doctor

need urgent help with homework!!!?

It's Biology. Ok, the direction says 'Explain how the drawing below illustrates the characteristics of life.' and it gives me a picture of two buffalos, one big one, and one little baby one. Both of them are eating grass. And there's a sun above it. I don't get what the direction's asking me to do =/

  1. Well it pretty much is asking you to explain how the picture shows stuff about life... ...the animals are eating, that's a start. Also it's a big one and a baby one, so I'm assuming that the bigger one is a mother, and that's a part of life--reproduction.
  2. Ok. The question is asking you to use the characteristics of living organisms and apply them to the pic. How is life defined? Living organisms need food (the sun is "food" for the grass that the buffalo are eating and the grass is their food). Also, the baby is a symbol of reproduction. Pm me at bestest_vee if you need more help. Bio is my thing.
  3. You have to distinguish he way the bufflos live...or in other word identify the the buffalos live!!! if this helps put me BEST!
  4. I think it represents the sun making the grass grow, the grass being eaten by an animal which reproduces and the young eats the grass to be strong and grow into an adult to start the process all over again. Hope this is of help
  5. it seems to be a picture of the life cycle. the small buffalo would appear to be the offspring of the larger buffalo who is protecting it's offspring (reproduction and survival of the fittest) they are eating (neccessary for life) the grass which uses sunlight to "feed" itself through photosnythesis.... that's what i would suppose... does it match what you're doing in school?
  6. Okay! The characteristics of life is like reperduction and mating and etc. So the buffalo reperducted and is eating and the sun is shining! We/they need all of those!
  7. The larger one is the mother and birth is a part of life.
  8. characteristics of life are: gas exchange, nutrition, reproduction, excretion, growth, reaction and there are two others that i can't remember, but i dont think that you would need them I think its asking you to indicate the characteristics of life that the picture demonstrates.
  9. Maybe it's illustrating the circle of life- Sun feeds grass. Grass feeds buffalos. Healthy well-fed buffalos yield offspring that survive. Buffalo poop feeds grass. Buffalo dies, decomposes, makes good fertilzer for grass for next generation to survive from. Could also just be illustrating that it's always up to the moms to care for the kids because you can't count on deadbeat dads to be around LOL....
  10. sun makes grass grow, grass makes buffalo grow and reproduce babies... its asking what is helping,/causing life. the circle of life!
  11. i think it goes like this... bullalo eats grass grass becomes poo inside buffalo poo comes out poo fertilizes where grass has been eaten poo & sun make grass grow bullalo eat grass etc.. (eventually big buffalo makes much tasty food and novelty items for crass tourist market) big buffalo tires of this and dares little buffalo to light his farts so it can be videoed and put on youtube.
  12. Ok The pic is showing you lots of things. -buffalo -grass -the sun -maybe some other animals what you need to do is look and see which things explain the characteristics of things we deem as alive. you know the buffalo is alive but why do you say it is alive that is what the question is asking
  13. It may be talking about the food chain and how life is dependent upon other life for food.--the sun provides energy for the producers-grass, the grass provides food for the consumers, the cows, and then when the cows die, they are consumed by the decomposers such as vultures and bacteria. Hope this helps.
  14. sun grows grass, bufflo eat grass, it comes out the other end , fertilises the grass, more grass grows, the buffalo get energy, grow strong , get together and make more buffalo, somewhere in all that is the basic food chain
  15. wow this is hard
