Whats the best type of grass for areas that remain damp and only receive filtered sun? Preferably not buffalo

- rye grass prefers damper areas, and also prefers less hot sunshine.
- Moss might be your answer. You could also make above ground grass or garden area. Take a look at this link: http://www.eartheasy.com/grow_raised_beds.htm
- Rye grass, it really is good.
- it really depends on what area of the country you live in. if there are trees preventing sun from getting to the area it may be wise to have the canopies thinned. hope this helps. :)
- Try a fine fescue blend or a shady mix that is predominantly made up of fine fescues (including creeping, hard, and chewings). Creeping red fescue is particularly tolerant of damp shady areas.
