What is the best homemade fertilizer for squash and cucumber?

I recently transplanted two squash and two cucumber plants into the ground and they're doing okay, not great. I don't want to spend tons of money on fertilizer. I'd also like to know some homemade fertilizers for watermelon, tomato, and snap pea. I've heard eggs are good for tomato. Oh, and my dog eats the leave on the cucumber, so is there a good spray to keep him out of the garden?

1. Usually wind up buying cracked corn and grinding it a bit more myself so it won't sprout. Used coffee grounds are a type of seed meal too. Alfalfa pellets are another source. Seaweed too.
