When Do I Water My Lawn After Fertilizing?

i used Scotts Turf Builder, it said dont apply if rain is expected within 24 hours or longer. but others say if you dont water it will burn the grass? Edmonton,Alberta Current Temp 15-22 Celcius

1. Do you trust the engineers who make Scott's more or less than the backyard gardeners telling you otherwise?
2. It might be good to water first so some gets absorbed quickly. Follow directions.
3. Granular fertilizer will not get into the root system without water. If you aren't expecting any rain, go ahead and water it in as soon as you are done.
