The Grass Doctor

Will my grass grow back this year?

Last week I put down my step 2 fertilizer, and I think my spreader was set to high and dispensed more fertilizer than necessary. Now, my lawn is burnt, (tinted brown, with a spots of dead grass) Will the dead spots grow back at all this year? Will my grass grown back and be green again this year? Will my step 3 in about 7 weeks help grow it back? I live in CT. This sucks. Any advice, comments, suggestions? Thanks in advance.

  1. Aww, that's too bad :( I know exactly how you feel as I've done this myself. Good news is, it will turn green again. It's still pretty early yet so have some faith. The quickest way is to first dilute the fertilizer with lots of water. It's the same school of thought as burn marks left by dogs peeing on your lawn. Set up a lawn sprinkler that will go back and forth and let it run for a good hour. Repeat daily for 3-4 days. If you have a hill, that's a huge bonus. The water will carry off some of the fertilizer and make the process faster. With that suggestion, you should see progress within a week or two. I'd hold off on step 3 until your lawn catches up. It will have caught up if it holds a steady green shade for a few days. Good luck!
  2. It will Come back the best thing you can do is keep it watered for now do not i repeat do not let it go without water. the water will help wash some of the fertilizer away.if you let it sit without water it will burn it up even more, i live in tennessee so i don't know what your step 3 is ours is summerguard with insect control. i would not do anything till fall with anything with fertilizer in it if i was you,you can use lime which is a natural fertilizer it works wonders,or ask for whatever natural fertilizer they carry in you area of the country.
