What can I do about grass burned by weed 'n' feed?
My weed 'n' feed spreader was not working properly when I put down weed 'n' feed, so now my back yard looks like a football field where the fertilizer burned the grass. I am mortified. Is there anything I can do, or just hope for a lot of rain, or am I stuck with an ugly yard for the season?

- Hey Tasia, Sorry that happened to you. The best thing is to flush the lawn as much as possible. Be sure to learn all you can from this experience. Do you use a Drop spreader? or a Broadcast Spreader? The Broadcast spreader does a better job of not making stripes. Use under 1/3 of the recommended amount and put it down in one direction. Then in a crossing pattern, do 1/3 again. That way you never put down too much, and there are no stripes. Chemical companies make money the more fertilizer you buy and put on your lawn. You can have a beautiful lawn with less fertilizer, and that prevents the excess from flowing into our Rivers and Oceans (killing shrimp, etc.) Had to share some of this, again, sorry for the lawn problem, I have done this myself in the past.
- not many choices, water heavily for the next few weeks.and hope it comes back. or till it under and water well for a few days then reseed.or let it be and start over next spring. if the lawn is a total burn out that is the only option open to you if after a few heavy watering's it looks like it ,s coming back you lucked out.also go to www.thiseoldhouse.com and search burned out lawns.
