The Grass Doctor

When after planting grass seed and it starts growing do you mow?

I planted grass seed about a week and a half ago, and my new grass is already anywhere from 2-3 inches tall and growing fast!! When do you mow and what setting do you mow it at? Also I have a lot of brown spots because it rained really heavy last week and all my seeds grouped together so the yard looks kind of goofy can I just lay out new seeds or do I have to till the yard again?

  1. for the patches sprinkle some fresh dirt and rake some seed in. let the grass grow about an inch taller than you would normally mow. set you setting up one inch taller than you normally would for the first several times.
  2. The seed bag should have recommended height before mowing instructions. If you have thrown the bag away, let it get about 4 inches tall and cut it no lower than 2 1/2 inches. You can reseed the patches and if you think it will come another frog strangler , place a thin layer of mulch over the reseeded spots , you can easily remove it after the grass comes up good.
