The Grass Doctor

I want to plant grass in my yard, I have approx 2100 sq ft. How much topsoil do I need?

How is it measured? Is Sod better? I live in Colorado what type of grass should I get?

  1. It depends on what type of soil you already have. If the soil you have doesn't grow anything, 2-3 inches would probably suffice. to figure it, take the amount of sqare ft, (2100) times the amount of inches deep (3) = 6300 and divide that by the amount by 324 and that will be the amount of cubic yards you need. Sod is nice if you are willing to pay the extra money and you will have a nice thick lawn a little sooner than if you just seed the lot.
  2. I admit that I am not an expert on planting grass but you could look here: http://tinyurl.com/ckowpe
