How do I get a lush, green lawn?
Hello. My front lawn is pretty weird. Half of it has grass growing, and the other half is yellow, dead and has a couple dandelions growing. How can I get the whole lawn green with thick beautiful grass? Do I need some type of fertilizer or seeds? I've never had to take care of any plant or lawn or anything before so I'm lost! Please help!! Please recommend any specific brand of fertilizer.

- You need to reseed, which should be done in falltime. When you do, try to dig up the bare areas a little bit to make the soil nice and fluffy, then get a bag of grasseed, there is like 3 different kinds and they are all good. Get a large coffee can, and poke holes in the bottom, and go around your yard sprinkling the grass seed. You might have a fungus growing. I know someone who used instant tea crystals and mouth wash to get rid of the grass fungus. The best thing to do , is Ask them at wal mart or home depot, but your main problem is reseeding. Then you got to water it. I don't, because I live in Ohio, and it does'nt really need it, but some states need to watered every day. there is stuff at wal mart for this.
- Easy...water....fertilizer.....mow regularly
- Go right now to your local Garden Store or Home Depot and buy Scott's Weed and Feed. Go get yourself a spreader also, dampen your lawn lightly and then spread the granule's over your lawn in an even fashion keeping away from the beds with plants let it sit for 24 hours then water it good. Leave it alone for 2-3 weeks. Then take an Iron rake and rake up the dead grass and loosen the soil, take any bare spots and spread some top soil and mix in good Grass Seed, The Moisture Control one is fairly good, depending on your amount of Sun your lawn gets buy that kind. Then spread out some seed on those bare spots and Water it really good at least 20-40 mins per day. By June you should be looking real pretty. Good luck
- Try to aerate your lawn and use lawn fertilizer (it's better to fertilize quarterly). Don't underwater, or overwater your grass. Watering amount and schedule depends on the type (or species) of sod you have. It's better to water early in the morning, than at night or during the full sunlight. Do not mow too short! It puts grass under the shock. If these tips don't help, then you can try to reseed your lawn (but be patient with seeding), or get some new good quality sod installed.
