HOW FAST IS GRASS SEED MENT TO GROW?

Hi I have tried digging my garden it is so hard due to the amount a stones bigger then my fist. There are millions of them so half is dug and the other half of garden is not. Can I throw grass seen on the grass area? And will it grow? Or will it not because of the grass there all ready?? Also how long with it take the grass seed to grow on the dug up part of, my lawn?? I’m from carlow in Ireland btw

2. just planted some myself,mine was well stoney as well the seed takes about 10-14 day before you see it come up,don't let it dry out tho and make sure that the birds don't have a feast on it.
