Does Tomato need a lot of shade? is Sun too bad? Also what are the good bio fertilizers for Tomato? Is cow dung good enough?

  1. Tomatoes like as much sun as possible. Their time in the shade should be limited to an hour or two a day. There are several commercial fertilizers available specifically formulated for tomatoes. They are far better than cow dung because they contain more than nitrogen.
  2. no tomato's need sun that is part of what makes them turn red for fert you can use garden tone or tomato tone by espoma and yes cow manure should do just fine
  3. Chack, tomatoes need a good bit of sun, but if you live in a hot climate, they can experience sun scald. Just keep and eye on the and see if the leaves start curling in the high heat. Here in SC we sometimes have to shade the plants to avoid sun-scald. I let them have morning sun and then cover them with cardboard or anything that will shade the plant. You don't want to cover it, just shade it. Any kind of general purpose fertilizer will work. There are also specific fertilizers that are for tomatoes especially. These types of fertilizers normally contain a bit less nitrogen that general purpose. That's important because too much nitrogen will cause the plants to become leggy and leafy with slowed production of fruit. Also, I wouldn't use fresh manure at all. Cow dung can be too strong for tomatoes and will burn the plants and even kill them. You can use cow dung at the end of the planting season and work it into the soil in preparation for next year's growing season. This will give it time to be absorbed into the soil and break down so it won't be quite as potent several months later. good luck
