Cost of hydroseeding for 12000 square foot new lawn?

I want to put in lawn behind my house. I'm installing sprinklers for roughly a 150'x75' rectangle. In Modesto/Stockton area in California does anyone know how much it would cost to hydroseed the area? Google results gave me anywhere from 3 cents to 20 cents per sq ft., and I have the feeling location/seed type has some effect on the cost. Has anyone had this done?

  1. You're right. The cost varies for a couple of reasons. #1. Type of lawn seed. #2. Ground preparation - leveling, rolling, etc. This is very important - you don't want an "Ankle Twister" lawn. If you choose an average price lawn seed and do the prep work yourself, you can get the price down to about 5 cents a sq ft. If you want the prep work included in the price you're probably looking at 15 to 20 cents a sq ft.
