How much does a bag of fertilizer cost? and how many lawns can i fertilize per bag?

I have had a lawn mowing business for three years now and i added weed whacking and hedge trimmimg last year and i would like to add fertilizing this year.

1. Fertilizer varies in price according to it's ingredients. The label will tell you exactly how many square feet the fertilizer will cover. If you are in business and have a valid Tax ID #, you may want to buy the fertilizer wholesale (larger quantities at a lower price). Check your yellow pages for a supplier near you. Remember, depending on your climate, you may have to fertilize more than once a year with more than one product. Read up on this because you do not want to ruin anyone's yard.
2. Well sorry to tell you this but if you do add fertilizing and do not have a pesticide license in your state you can not do this. You can not even spray round up in customers flower beds without a license. You cannot even put Preen weed preventer in customers landscape beds without a license. You cannot advertise for this service without a license. Is it inforced by the state? You bet it is. It is inforced by your state chemist. They drive around looking for people spraying or fertilizing. You will get a fine and possibly jail time. This is because they are protecting companys that spent time and money to get licensed and protecting citizens and waterways. You have to know the square footage of lawns to know how much fertilizer to use. Not to sound rude but if you have to ask how much square footage a bag of fertilizer covers you have no business putting fertilizer on someones lawn.
