what is the best inexpensive lawn fertilizer?

was pricing lawn fertilizers and i see the scotts 15,000 sq. ft. bag of turf builder fertilizer (without weed killer or halts) i normally buy each spring went up like $10 from last yr and is priced like $35 now.....other brands are much cheaper than the scotts, which cheaper brand provides the best results?? let me know your past experiences please.

1. I bought experts brand weed and feed and applied it about 3 weeks ago my grass is so thick lush and green!!!
