The Grass Doctor

What's a safe indoor plant that cats like to eat?

I have an indoor cat, and recently I purchased a little kit that grows oat grass seed to see if she liked it. She LOVED it, and I had to buy another kit because she ate most of the other. However, it's a $3 purchase for this kit with oat grass seed! What are some simple seeds or plants I can buy that she will love to munch on to satisfy her greens needs?

  1. normal grass or catnip, you can usualy find the seeds in spring when stores stock seeds for everything.
  2. duh, catnip!
  3. i don't know but i know at petsmart there is a plant for animals that can eat it and its for dogs cats hamsters birds and more and my dog loves it and my cat
  4. Cat grass and catnip. Try growing it in seperate containers and keeping some in the garage or wherever she cannot get to them. Then when they reach maturity bring one out at a time so that all of the seeds have a chance to grow.
  5. You can buy a catnip plant at almost any pet store.
  6. you could go to a nursery that has plannts'that have oat grass;and grow it your self. it;s alot cheeper that way..any other plants[becareful[ cause lots of plants are toxic to cats ; and animals
  7. grow grass or cat nip but keep it where only she can get it cause they don't like it to be bothered by other people
  8. I don't know where you live but you should be able to buy oats and plant your own. Big savings!!! Or buy catnip seeds and plant that! It will always be cheaper if you do the work yourself instead of buying a kit where you just add water!!
  9. Go and buy some herb garden. Thyme, parsley, sage and chicken weed are good for them and inexpensive ASPCA Animal poison control center has a list of good and toxic plants to cats and so does the cat fanciers association see the links. Those are great place to start. Yesterday I wrote down a whole list to someone asking about cat nip if you can find it. It has flowers like marigold and bamboo and Irish moss. There are highly toxic plants to cat so make sure you do not get some of those!
  10. You can get wheat, oats, and rye grass for sprouting at your heath food store- it's way cheaper! Grow them just like a flower or seeds, in a pot with potting mix. Thats all the kit is, a fancy way to grow 'sprouts'
