How do you plant grass seeds?

There are bare patches in my front yard due to some flooding. Would it be a good idea to plant grass seeds here? If so, how?

  1. You can certainly try to plant grass seed there. Wait until the danger of frost has passed. Get the grass seed and broadcast it, either by hand or with a push-type. Then lay a bit of straw down. When the grass starts to grow decently and take root, then you can take up the straw. Keep it watered. Good luck!
  2. Just grab yourself a hand full of grass seed and toss them out in the yard
  3. You dont have to actually plant grass seed. You just throw it on the bare spots. If its real bad then I would till the bare spots up with a hoe and then throw some grass seed down. I just put some down yesterday.
  4. rake up the patches sprinkle grass seed on, then cover with a sprinkling of sand (this protects from birds) and sit back and wait, do this anytime from April to September when all risk of frost is past.
