What is a best type of grass for southern AZ?
What is a type of grass that will stay green most of the year? Which is the best choice? Any recommendations?

- No grass, it's a desert. You don't have to go all cacti but try some natives that will stay green with a little added water. Check these out http://www.delange.org/Xeriscape/Xeriscape.htm
- Bermuda is what you want forthe summer. It will go dormant and you never have to reseed it. It will come back in the summer by itself. When it starts to cool down you need to reseed with Ryegrass. Dont worry about all people that tell you to lay extra soil and prepping and such. Just cut your lawn real short and spread seed generously. Change your sprinklers for a few days so I stays damp for a few days strait. Not soaked just damp. You need to do this every winter as it will not go dormant. It just dies when it gets hot and the Bermuda will take over from there. I've done this for years and my lawn is perfect all year long.
- My dad retired out to Az. and said just let it be natural. he's 94, mowed grass most of his life. Friends of his retired moved to Az. planted grass and died while mowing it . let it be and live a long happy life.
