lawn fertilizer and dogs,how long to stay of the grass?

I have never used that stuff, for 10 years.But my lawn looks really bad. If I would use weed and feed,how long should my dog and kids stay of the grass?I would water the lawn every day,if it's not raining.

1. For an industry point of view, read the label. For an environmentalist point of view, a well watered and fertilized lawn tends to outgrow weeds over time anyway, and any use of herbicides is unneeded and unnecessary pollution to the earth. For a water-conserving point of view, all lawns are wasteful.
2. Most packages cover that question on their labels and the answer various with each product. They also provide a number to call for any questions you may have. Play it safe and call. Also check with your vet on what to watch for as far as your pet's reaction to the product. Some times vets have a list of products to stay way from. There also home made remendies that can be used safely around children and pets. If you are interested I can post some for you.
