The Grass Doctor

what length should new grass be before it's first cut?

i live in hong kong. the soil in my lawn is hard packed dirt and clay. drainage is not great but the bermuda grass i planted has taken well. i put lime, fertilizer and a top dressing of top soil down to treat the soil. i'd like to know when and how i should cut it. also, when should i fertilize again (14-14-14)? this is my first attempt at grass so assume i know nothing which probably isn't far from the truth. thanks.

  1. Go to a garden website sry i dont know
  2. it should be exactly 4.145637592746 inches. a hair off of that and your lawn will explode.
  3. Be safe try 6 inches. That is your grass length.Just smile it wont hurt you to!!
  4. you realy gotta be carefull with fertilizer cause you can use too much and "burn" the grass. it probly shouldn't need it again for 3 months from the first time.. good luck
  5. you should not let it get over 4 -5 inches tall. once it does the grass blade starts to split and over grow. do not cut your grass shorter than 2.75 - 3 inches. this is a good growth to prevent weeds and keep the grass healthy.
