- Depends on what part of the country you live in. Something like bermuda won't grow well in the Northern part of the country. Check out this link: http://www.putting-greens.com/types.html it should help.
- lets say you want a green about 50square feet...figure about $5,000..that's just not regular ole grass u can buy in Loews, where talking grass specifically designed not to grow more than a 1/8 of a inch, then theres the the big hole ull need dug, the sand other layers of material ull need, plus the tools, food, fertilizer. machines and a 2 hours of watering a day to maintain it..There is a company that makes artificial greens.. that would be more cost productive...Oh and some types that are used are Poana, Bent and Bermuda
- may i suggest synthetic to remove maintainance.
- I think he means Poa Annua which is annual bluegrass- a weed in much of the U.S. that has adapted to the close mowing requirements of turf-type grasses. You won't need 2 hours of watering but you WILL need: 1. An 11-blade reel mower which cost $6,000-$9,000 new. You can find used mowers on-line, at local g.c's, and through rrproducts.com. 2. Good drainage system (subsoil) and at least 4-6" of sand mixed with peat (90% sand, 10% peat). 3. Bentgrass (cool season sod) or Tif-dwarf hybrid bermudagrass. 4. Soil fertility and Disease management program (specialty fertilizers, chemicals, etc.). Many of which require special licenses to obtain. 5. Daily mowing schedule (5-7 days per week), Daily spot watering. Good advice- go artificial. Although those will cost you thousands as well!
