The Grass Doctor

a poem i made called "over your head" cuz i was on the roof...?

Can't sleep.. What I really wanna say Is something you wouldn't understand So let me put it to you this way Don't think to hard Just listen What if everything you never saw didn't exist? The stories I grew up knowing The places I've never seen Those people I hear about, everyone What I know Is something someone told me Inside a safe room With students raising their hand I sit on the end of the roof over my home Swinging my feet off the edge My eyes cruise over the familiar landscape It looked strange Like I was seeing this place from a distance For the first time, listening The idol chatter in my mind grew faint As suddenly The world around me grew Mysterious and big It was beautiful I couldn't understand any of it The ever changing work of God Silently sitting with me I felt Immeasurably small I jump And meet the ground I look up from my descend A large moon bloomed above the night sky A dark seed grew in my mind As the halo of light glowed in my eyes I walked away With a heavy thought That evaporated my gravity, my pull on earth I wasn't there My soul wondering Not aware of time My feet touched another edge, water I blinked as I fell back inside my skin A "no trespassing" sign invited my adventure Again I am overwhelmed by the nights massive presence Dark water, black as ink Licking my toes I pull back, wondering where I turn around as a breeze gathered Long elegant plants bow in fickle to every direction of wind The earth breathed and moved All around me My eyes couldn't focus in the night To see anything, I must see it from the corner of my eye My senses heightened As I listen, very still But I can only hear a haunting thought Crawling under my skin Twitching in my muscles Run, run away Leave fast My heart sprints across the grass Racing through the shadows But my legs stay behind paralyzed I haven't told anyone I couldn't sleep And I am Running away from home I've reached the dead end And make beginning To find what my eyes haven't seen Not knowing my near death awaits this path I'm gone And not discovered
