My lawn has spots of weed or grass growing faster then the rest of the lawn. ?

About a year ago I ripped a garden out of my front yard and put some seed down. The same seed as the grass I have already established. Problem is it didnt grow so I laid some turf down. Now I have this long grass that grows 10 x faster then the rest of the lawn, shooting up through out the yard in places. I don't think it will be grass, I am leaning more towards weed, cause its look like a weed. Would it be better if I took a photo and placed on here?

1. You can actually buy a weed killer for use on your lawn that won't kill your grass but will get rid of your weeds. Ask someone at a garden center to help you find the right one for your yard.
