How long before it's safe to send child and dog on a fertilized lawn?

The lawn care company I just hired last week wasn't supposed to fertilize the backyard, but they "accidentally" did. They say 24-48 hours before anyone should romp on it; I just got done watering the lawn to help it along. How much longer do I wait? What's safe? I feel like a big dummy asking, but I don't want to put my kid or dog at risk.

1. The 24 to 48 hour rule is only to keep them right. Heavy fertilizers need a licence. Get out now and play with the kids/ dog or whatever.
