New Grass start to turn brown, what can I do?
We replaced all the grass in the front yard with new grass last 2 day. We put fertilizer and water it. but the grass start to turn brown and the soil is dry. It is not enough water? And how do I water new grass? I live in South Texas, very hot in afternoon and cool in morning. I just water it, lot of water. But the root don't seem to get very wet. Do I need to water more? And how frequently do i need to water my grass?

- keep it wet at all times, it will green up again in a few weeks but keep it wet water it for a shot time but frequently. more info: Assuming you have laid sod/turf and not seed, in a few weeks tug on the grass sod to see if the roots have gone down it to the soil if so then you can back off on the water
- Water, water, water. New grass needs lots of it very gently applied. Go to Home Depot or Lowes and get some special mulch made to help start young grass (not the ordinary kind of mulch). It will help protect your baby grass.
- It is important your grass gets water! But it is the timing of the water which causes browning. DO NO WATER grass during the day time. The best time to water is at 5pm and again at 5am. You want the water to soak into the soil before the sun comes up. The dries the water and the water acts as a microscope on the grass cause it to burn. If you change the timing on your water and the amount of time it is watered you should have no problem. Your sprinklers should also be set to 2-3minutes of water at a time, too much water causes fungus's to grow under the soil!
