Do tomato plants have iron naturally without fertilizer?
I'm doing a science fair project and answers are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

- Only if there is iron in the soil. Most soils have iron in it...as well as magnesium, calcium, etc....
- I grow two hundred tomato plants every year without ever using fertilizer. I do however, mulch, and roto-til over two thousand pounds of leaf matter, grass clippings, and other organic matter into the soil every fall and spring. I don’t know what the iron content is, but my entire neighborhood will tell you they’re the best tomatoes around. I live on Long Island, which means that my soil is pure sand. The addition of all that mulch makes my soil sandy loam.
