  1. If water's not a problem, you can use a cool season grass for your lawn. I say this because it needs more water than warm season grass. Marathon grass seed, found at any garden nursery, Is a good choice. Marathon is a brand name that sells grass seed that they say is weed-free. It's a blend of several different types of fescue grass seed. It's soft on the feet and does not lose it's green color as much as warm season grass. Warm season grass goes dormant in winter and looks dull green to brown in areas, but comes back in the spring. If you fertilize your lawn, only do it in spring and fall. In winter, it needs to rest by going dormant and in summer, it could easily be burned.
  2. the other consideration is amount of sun. Most grass seed mixes contain a mixture of species to cover a range of sun conditions. I would suggest going to a local garden center (a real garden center rather than home depot or soemthing) and ask the proprietors what they recommend for your area. They are the best source of info, Or consult you local extension office, they have lots of info as well. http://www.csrees.usda.gov/Extension/
