The Grass Doctor

is urine a good fertilizer?

since it contains urea

  1. I don't think so. In my experience repeat exposure tends to kill plants. Maybe it is usefull in small doses.
  2. Urine is just effective as water but what you should give it is water.
  3. Not if it is fresh - too acidic. It does contain urea, however, and if added to a compost heap should prove useful if you are going to put it on the ground around citrus trees, later. In the olden days boys were encouraged to pee against the lemon tree in the back yard. I don't know if it did any good.
  4. From what I have experienced, it kills things. I wouldn't do it if I were you.
  5. No urine is not a good fertilizer for that matter it will make your grass turn brown in the spots the urine is and it will kill your flowers. I try ans keep my dogs away from my roses but I have been giving them cranberry juice one time a day and I have noticed the brown spots on my grass is getting better.
  6. Yes, it is - if - IF - you dilute it with ten parts water to one part urine. Otherwise, it will be too concentrated, and will burn your plants, and kill them. From a practical standpoint, it would be a very smelly business. There are easier ways to get fertilizers.
  7. The only thing I know for sure is, if I know it has been fertilized that way I won't be eating it. If there is bacteria in fecal matter that could be harmful then why not urine? Have you ever watched the workers in the field and seen a nearby bathroom? They use the fields to defecate and urinate which maybe cause for so many fruits and vegetables being contaminated. Good reason to wash thoroughly before eating. Dog and cat urine kill the grass.
