a have a large oak tree and the root system has kill my lawn., what type of grass should I plant.?

  1. If the tree killed one type of grass, it'll probably kill another type. How about putting some decorative bark mulch under the tree and setting some pretty pots of shade-loving plants around it?
  2. More likely it's the shade that caused the grass to die. You don't find grass in a forest. Sometimes you can increase the light below a tree by removing some lower limbs. Never remove upper limps; topping a tree is a travesty. Otherwise, you can use shade tolerant ground covers, or add a deck/paver area that allows rainfall to flow through to the tree roots.
