What food wastes would be a good fertilizer for radishes?
I am doing an experiment for my science fair project on the effects that different fertilizers would have for radishes. I researched that plants need 3 main nutrients: nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. How long does it take for radishes to grow? Does this mean that if I put bananas in a blender and poured it over my radish, it would be a type of fertilizer. Could that be one of my varibles. I read that fish food is good. (is animal and human waste full of nitrogen?) Apple cider and cheese are good sources of phosphorus. How would I use the apple cores? Just leave them on the radishes?

- used coffee grounds is good for anything in a garden
- fertilizers should be mulched into the soil. ideally it is made from compost that is made up of a variety of waste including leaves and grass clippings, peels, cores, and other ucooked vegetables, and cow or horse manure.
- Really anything that breaks down fast. banana peels, apple cores. basically a lot of fruits and vegetables.
- If you are not composting the material I would suggest burying it an the outside edges of the roots. Chop it up small first. If you liquefy it, it will probably wash out quickly when you water. Be sure to bury it deep enough so the animals don't dig it up. You can bury fish but by all means do not use any meat, dairy or fats. This includes any waste from an animal that has eaten any meat, dairy or fat, like dog food or cat food. By the way, given the right weather, radishes should pop up within a week and can be full grown 2 to 3 weeks later. Good luck.:)
- composted soil is good. coffee grounds. table scraps. Banana peelings are great.......... they make my roses thrive.........
