- You'll probably want a cool season species blend, probably a Kentucky bluegrass/fescue mixture; bluegrass for sun and red and creeping fescue for shade. Perennial ryegrass germinates quickly and fills in, but can "fade away" in a year or two. Are you seeding a new lawn, or overseeding? http://www.cityofkingston.ca/residents/waste/leaf-yard/ lawncare.asphttp://counties.cce.cornell.edu/rensselaer/HORT/Fact%20sheets/http://www.ext.vt.edu/news/periodicals/cses/2004-09/falllawn.html Fertilization should be based on soil test results. fs0736x%20Establishing%20a%20Lawn%20From%20Seed.htm
- Hi, only one grass seed to grow in the months of winter is,Rye . Also, spread a little topper over the seed and a little fertiliser, then lightly water in the AM,and PM. until it sprouts, than water in the AM only. Byee
