Lawn Care Business ?

hey, I have been looking to set up a lawn business for a while now. What all will I need? I know the obvious lawn mower, weed trimmer, leaf blower, truck, trailer etc. But financially, advertising wise and such forth? I am look also for how much do I charge? Do you charge by the acre or ? Thanks.

2. Before you sink yourself into debt, you need to look at a few things. I'm not trying to burst your bubble here, starting up a business is part of the American dream. You just need think in depth a little first. A few points to consider: 1. Knowledge. Do you know what you are doing for the services you plan to offer? 2. What is the going rate for the services you plan to offer in your area? 3. Do you have enough capital to start your business and to carry you through for at least six months until it starts making a return? 4. Liability insurance is also needed. 5. Do you have a business plan? There are more variables to consider than what I have mentioned. If you have not already done so, you might want to get a job with landscape company to learn the in's and out's of the trade. Congrat's on wanting to open your own business. As far as advertising goes, unless you have the money to keep your name in print week after week after week, in a major newspaper add, it's not going to work. Word of mouth is the best add you will have. Ask customers if they are satisfied with your service and if they will recommend you. If you provide top-notch customer service, you will do good. 3. I just started my own landscape company a year ago..What I did was bought software to make business cards. I passed them out through out different neighborhood..At first I started with a couple of customers( it was slow for awhile) but now I have currently about thirty customers.. As for how much to charge- you have to see what they want done, how much garbage you have to haul,dumping fees, The mai thing that you have to do is--Do a great job,don't rush it ...then your customers will refer you to others such as family members...I started making only a couple hundred dollars a month....now I make that in a couple of hours!! good luck
