Does anyone know how expensive it is to put in fake grass?
We live in a desert area, where it doesn't make sense to water and care for a "real" lawn. But we'd like a place for our kids and pets to play, and have heard nice things about some of the new products out there. Any advice? Suggestions?

- My daughter's teacher was just telling me last week about the fake grass she had put in. We live in a "high desert" area. She said expensive but worth it.
- It is not that expensive.
- When we looked at it last year it was $6 a square foot and that didn't include installation. It's really expensive.
- pepends on how fake you want it to look. @$30 sq. yd.
- My neighbor just did his back yard in it and spent $10,000. It depends on the space you cover with it. He did it because he has 4 dogs and he was constantly repairing burn marks. He loves it now because he just hoses the dog's messess of the turf. I felt it with my barefoot and was surprised at how close to real grass it feels. He does have these little black rubbery balls all over the place, but he said that will stop happening in a couple of weeks. It really does look like real grass, too. They had to cut some holes out of it for his trees and garden beds and I think he needs to get some kind of border for those areas. But, other than that and the expense, he is saving a lot of money in both watering and lawn services.
