The Grass Doctor

I have spots in my yards (St. Augustine grass). What are the steps to seed those dead spots?

I live in Orlando. My lawn care professional, TruGreen, has ensured me that the bugs that caused the damage are no longer in my yard.

  1. st augustine does not have seeds that can germinate. you need to re-sod or plug the infected areas. you can get them at Lowes, Homedepot. ask the person in the garden center about it
  2. I'm in Orlando as well, and the first answer explains it. If you have the time you can just clean out the affected area and "help" the current St Aug. to refill it, or just wait, as you pull weed stock that will continue to try to fill the area. Depending on the size, sod would certainly fill it faster than plugs, and not be vastly different in cost. It truly is a matter of choice. Rev. Steven
  3. I have the same problem, first you need to remove all of the dead grass or as much as possible. Go to your local nursery and purchase a few squares of grass and place them in your problem areas. If you would like fast good growth place come potting soil on top and around the new grass for best results. Make sure to water to establish a good root system.
