i do a lawn care service in iowa. mowing,seeding,etc.. do i charge sales tax?

1. Unfortunately, the legal anser is yes. Lawn care is a taxable service in Iowa.
2. And even the sadder part is that you have to give it to the govt. :((
3. Please read the information in the Iowa Tax Rules for Landscaping and Lawn Care. I think it would be rather helpful for your line of work. http://www.state.ia.us/tax/educate/78627.pdf
4. if you're being charged tax, charge tax. you can hide it in the final price so it appears all inclusive, like the job is 39.99 but it's really 37.65 +, or whatever. the government is not going to care when you tell them that you don't charge tax. they'll still make you pay it.
