The Grass Doctor

I have just started a lawn care service, what would be a fair salary if I were to hire a helper?

  1. No one wants to work anymore. Offer a low salary with a large incentive. I know several people who can bonus as much as 1/2 of their pay.
  2. Reliable help is a major problem, and lawn care companies suffer even more than most. You usually get people who are there for a quick pay cheque, on the other hand most companies don't pay well enough to keep employees. You need to consider what it costs for a person to live and somehow reflect that in pay or incentives, you also need to know what you can afford to pay someone and still maintain a profit. I would suggest a starting rate of at least $1. above minimum wage, with incentives or pay increases to follow. Be prepared to go through a large number of workers before finding the one that fits, and when you do find someone, make sure you pay enough to keep that employee.
  3. ten bucks an hour is normal around here.
