how does one care for canadian grass?? i just cut my grass and now its brownish ! it was green before i cut it

I live in chicago,and i purchased canadian grass seeds about 3yrs ago, why did my grass turn brown.....

1. you must have cut it too short..... get down there and really LOOK at the grass plants.... at the soil line, there's little sprouts that are kinda white colored...then a bit of the first part of the plant growing up that is brown...after that, the plant starts showing green leaf.... if you cut too low, all you have left is the brown stuff for a while..... bad deal... no food being processed cuz no chlorphyll in the leaf to do the work...... raise the mower's blade up a little and cut the grass a little longer so you leave green on it.....here's a pic.... note that the shorter the cut, the less green is on the plant?.. http://www.turfgrass.ncsu.edu/images/Plants/tallfescue/Web/crown4.jpg
