What can I do with a copper plant holder that Mold grows around the top of planter?

I have a beautiful plant holder maid of marble and copper. So I put inm a palm tree and some pretty plants. My husband says its alright, but they are still dying. He also added Miracle grow and all differen types of fertilizer. Please help! The molds got to go!!!

2. remove your plant from planter, spray the planter where the mold is with vodka, let set five minutes, then wash with soap and water, then replant your plant
