Why are there lines in my Lawn? (PICTURES INCLUDED)?
Can someone tell me why my lawn's green coloring doesnt look uniform? Please see the pictures of my lawn here: http://www.spunge.org/~tony/mylawn/mygrass.htm As you can see in each picture there are visible lines (green strip and a brown strip) across my lawn. What is causing this and how do i fix the problem. ** NOTE: I should mention that i did apply Scotts Turf Builder Pro (which contains Fertilizer and Weed Control) and used a Spreader to apply it. This was 3 weeks ago. Interestingly those lines on my lawn follow the same pattern i used when using the spreader. I am not sure if this is conicidence or if somehow the spreader wasnt putting the fertilizer in those areas and so they thinned out (and became brown looking). IF ANYONE has any ideas let me know. Maybe i neeed aeration or more fertilizer or maybe i just need to rake the lawn so as to massage the soil to get it to come alive.

- I would suggest watering and let it grow out a few times, I think the turf builder didn't distrubute evenly and just needs some time.
- You didnt overlap the laying of your fertilizer enough. try another application with the same product is a direction perpendicular to the previous application. Overlap each pass by a third of the width of the last. cross your fingers and water well.
- Did you use a drop spreader or a rotary spreader. It looks like you used a rotary spreader and lost track of where you were at when you applied it. The best way to apply fertilizer is to use a drop spreader and apply it during the early morning hours when there is dew on the lawn. That way you can keep track of where you are going. Overlapping the wheel pattern is easy when you apply it this way. I would re-fertilize with just fertilizer and not weed control and see how it looks again in another couple of weeks. You should see significant improvement.
- I can see where the spreader was used the last time the lawn was fertilized. Over lap the spreader or cut the spread amount in half and spread both ways.
