Is there a fertilizer spreader that breaks up clods of manure?
I would like to spread aged horse manure over paddocks but need to break down the clods. I need a fertiliser spreader that can be towed behind a quad bike that will do this. Is there anything on the market?

- The "Newer-Spreader"
- Most spreaders have beaters on the back that break up the manure. I guess it just depends on what kind you have or get.
- Most spreaders have chains and hammers to break up the chunks. look here - these are for quads etc http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www.landscapemachinery.co.uk/uploads/214_pic_29.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.landscapemachinery.co.uk/print.php%3F%26from%3D60&h=300&w=400&sz=101&hl=en&start=1&um=1&tbnid=wU1L_Tbkxy96eM:&tbnh=93&tbnw=124&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dcomp%255Bact%2Bmuck%2Bspreader%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dcom.google:en-GB:official%26sa%3DN
- Yes, The Newerspreader and the Millcreek Spreader... I'm wanting the Millcreek Spreader for our barn. http://millcreekspreaders.com/ http://newerspreader.com/
- Go see your local farmers equipment dealer, there are many sizes to choose from.
- yah, but cost a fortune
- Thanks for posting this question. And all of the answers. I am going to look into getting a new one for our barn. Right now my hubby has two manure spreaders (call wife and daughter), but they only work with a lot of pushing and prodding, and they squeal and whine a lot when spreading manure. Perfect fathers day gift idea.
- you can build one for much cheaper than buying. it can go on the back of a riding lawnmower as well, so u can kill 2 birds with one stone. take 2 boards, 3 or 4 ft. long. strech a piece of heavy chain link fence across the top and nail (with u shaped nails/staples). take a chain and attach to one end of the "spreader" so you can pull the contraption behind you. make sure that the chain u use for attaching to your quad or mower is long enough to allow at least 2 or 3 feet between your riding machine and the spreader so you can turn without getting hung up. i used to put one or 2 rubber tires on the spreader to weigh it down, so it would really crunch up the old manure. it worked extremely well, took a 1/2 hour to make, and only cost a few bucks to make:)
