What fertilizer gives tomatoes the best flavor? Miracle Grow, Osmocote or some other brand? Thanks?

  1. I heard Miracle Grow does, good luck and i hope you grow some tastey tomatoes!!
  2. Try organic fertilizer from gardensalive.com. It's the best I have found. It costs a little more, but is well worth it.
  3. Taste each fertilizer and see which one taste best to you. Sorry, try and use bone meal or all organic like "Holy Tone" brand. These are all natural and whatever your plants take in, goes into you.
  4. I have used Miracle Grow for years until now I switched to a organic called Daniels. I don't want to eat chemicals or feed them to my family any more. I have read that it doesn’t get into your food but I used it heavy last year & I raised the biggest Tomato worms I have ever seen. If the bugs get it then you get it. We are killing ourselves with chemicals form fertilizer, weed killers, & insect poisons. You get 40% fruit & 60% chemicals.
  5. Any chemical fertilizer will give you somewhat of an unnatural flavor in your veggies, whether you initially notice it or not. Use a good organic fertilizer for the most natural flavor.
  6. Tomatoes like a pretty neutral soil, so I dont recommend anything too acidic (some miracle grow products, etc)....If you are a really avid tomato grower, I'd take a sample of soil to your local counties extension office, they should test it for free. Note the pH....should be around 7.0....They will recommend the best way to ammend it if it is not....I only use compost and I add a little lime cause my soil is acidic. Then I let the sun, the plant and whatever forces that be take over. good luck
