What is the best fertilizer to use on home grown tomatoes?

This is my first time to grow my own tomato plants....I have some tomatoes now, and I want to fertilize naturally. Any help appreciated.

  1. Any natural sold by Walmart, etc.
  2. miracle grow works good
  3. Good old manure works best!
  4. Anytime I need any gardening help at all, I go to www.gardenguides.com. You can answer any question and someone will be able to help. Good luck with your tomatoes. BTW, this is my first time growing my own tomato plants as well. Isn't it great??
  5. Home centers sell tomato fertilizer, probably a good bet it will work.
  6. Do not use miracle grow. It will kill the plants faster. Just get something organic or natural. Whatever. :)
  7. Chicken poo!!! I used chicken poo and my plants are drooping with maters!!!
  8. I'm in N. California, and most local nurseries sell a brand of organic fertilizer called EB Stone's. I use several of their products in the garden, but love the Tomato and Vegetable Food for all of my veggies. The only thing to watch, if you have pets, is that there is blood/bone meal in it. My dog seems to think that I'm sprinkling a treat for her under my tomatoes (she loves to go back and lick the dirt), so it's a good idea to make sure the fertilizer is mixed well into the dirt. Good luck!
  9. Miracle grow for tomatoes.
  10. Since "real" manure is hard to come by for most folks, you can buy manure that has no odor in bags around 20lb. or so. If you mix it with some water till its not like mud but "juicier" its real good to give your tomatoes a shot of now and then. I do it now and then instead of watering. They get the moisture they need and a little "snack". Works for me and I have 25 plants all doing fine.
