how do you neutralize lawn fertilizer?

I over fertilized my lawn and now the grass seems to be turning yellow.

1. Add mulch
2. Water it a lot. The water will dilute it.
3. Have dogs pee all over it to neutralize the fertilizer.
4. once you apply the fert you cannot reverse the damage. i have been fertilizing lawns for a living for 14 years and all you can do is to cut out the damaged area and reseed. or sod. if you blitzed the whole lawn, water and hope you dont have to replace it. hopefully it was just a localized area. mulch wont help and all dog pee will do is kill it even more
