- try making your own compost. May take some time but it usually feeds vegetables really well. I have great success with coffee grounds, egg shells and banana peal compost for my roses.
- I use coffee grinds (after I've used them for making coffee). They are a great source of nitrogen for your tomato plants. My plants are currently 6 feet tall with lots of tomatos on them!
- coffee grounds and egg shells belong in the garbage not in your garden, use milorganite on your plants, its all natural, and good nitrogen
- Compost is a great fertilizer but not particularly fast acing and it takes 6 to 12 months to make good compost which does not help you out for his season. I would suggest using a folier fertilizer such as Maxi-crop a water soluble kelp based fertilizer along with putting down an inch thick layer of compost around each tomato plant. You can buy decent compost a any lawn and garden center and box stores such as Lowe's and Home Depot also carry it. you want to go easy on nitrogen with tomatoes as too much N will give you lots of lush foliage but very few flowers or fruits so go with a natural fert that has a higher number for the P and K than for the N
- earthjuice.com find a store near you that has it http://www.earthjuice.com/buy/index.html making you own is hard might not wanna experiment on you tomatoes maybe u do lol either way this is a good source.
