Should I fertilize my lawn again?
New seeded lawn 09/03,fertilize 4 weeks later on 10/01 per instructions on Scotts fall fertilizer, its now 11/09 and havent had our first snowfall yet. Should I or would it be a good idea to fertilize again before the snow comes?

- No. The grass is heading toward dormancy if you live in a cool area, and fetilizer could burn it now.
- No. fertilize early next spring.
- you are supposed to wait between fertilizing. I think it is 6 weeks. Call Scotts. The number is on the bag and at scotts.com. They are very helpful with lawncare and how to use their products.
- Fertilizer is over used, over sold and causing havoc in our rivers and ponds due to run off. Algae blooms from the nitrogen Grass goes dormant in the winter or during a drought and doesn't use food as it does during a good growing season. Fertilizer should be used sparingly, as it feeds the weeds more than the grass. Autumn is the best time to establish a lawn. And please do not use a lawn service which destroys the natural balance and then sells you all kinds of services to keep the lawn from dying. Do not water after 10 in the morning If you live in a desert region, nix the lawn entirely. The future of the world is in our hands.
- You are supposed to wait 6 weeks between fertilizing, but Scots DOES in fact make a Turf Builder "Winter Guard" mix that we use every year. It seems to give us a jump start in the Spring. It has to go down BEFORE the ground freezes. I checked at turfbuilder.com, and they recommend only 4 "feedings" per year for healthy grass. Hope that helps!!
