Is there a safe alternative to "Scotts 4 Step" to apply to my lawn in order to protect my family and dog?

I have two children and now have a beagle mix who constantly eats grass, weeds, plants etc in the yard. I've read that Scotts 4 Step is bad since it is chemical not organic. Can anyone recommend safe alternative for fertilizer, bug control, weed control?

1. There's really nothing "unsafe" about Scott's as long as you apply according to the label. If you're really serious about "going green", most garden centers carry organic alternatives - Scott's even has one. But there are really NO good organic weed or insect controls.
