Mixing with different scotts fetilizer?

I baugt a bag of scotts fertilizer w/ 2% iron.. it only helps build a thick green grass. Can i mix another fertilizer that helps pervent crabgrass... or will it make my lawn worse..?

  1. The first thing you want to do, is throw away the scotts. it is horrible. The iron is for moss control, but two percent will do hardly anything. A good weed and feed will do well. If you are looking for a nice lawn, go to a local feed store for animals and livestock. usually they have the best material to choose from. But to answer your question, with scotts, you dont want to put down two fertilizers at the same time, otherwise, you will be mowing everyday, and killing too much at one time. your grass can only take so much abuse.
  2. Yes you can mix several fertilizers. Just apply it at the same rate that you would use for one kind. You could also use the Scotts on other plants in your garden (it can be used on plants other than lawns).
